Reeds gently parted as the muscular body of the deputy weaved its way gracefully though the territory allowing his paws to drag lazily on the ground. The heat was absolutely absurd, and he was just going for a drink of water. His usual smirk was placed on his maw, and his adroit movements allowed his frame to work gracefully with the foliage around him, no matter how big or how small. His body arced agilely as he hopped from stream to stream, ignoring the searing sensations that burned through his pads as his paws hit the hard, cakes ground which was full of cracks instead of smooth sand. Instead of a lively stream that ran through the reeds and dipped into the main body of water, there was only a small, shallow dip in the ground where the water normally was. Now there lay a small, non moving feeble amount of water, surely able enough to dry up within the next day. Or even within hours.
Normally, a cat moving the way Dustedglass managed to move, they would believe he was a spirited cat, lively in all ways of life, mentally and physically, but they would be completely wrong. He was a male full of loathsome qualities, spiteful and feeling hatred toward many things. It is not an easy task, that of wiping the ever-seeming smirk that always seemed placed on his maw. It is either an ignorant, stubborn smirk, or his maw set in one, hard, straight line which is only that of seriousness. He's definitely not one to screw with, and he doesn't like play. He works, and works to become more crafty, cunning, and clever in everything he does. A small sigh escaped the lips of the emotionally confused tom. He didn't want to be mean, really, he didn't.
Stupid father... the tom thought bitterly to himself, narrowing his dark blue eyes against the horribly stale wind that blew directly into his frame. His tail now twitched quickly, thoughts and images of his past flashing through his mind, making the tom cringe internally and externally. How could he ever forget this? Letting out a soft groan of unhappiness, Dustedglass began to pace around and around, little circles and big circles, trying to forget, trying to forgive. But flatly put, he just couldn't. He didn't know if he couldn't or what, but the images freely made their way through his mind. Faced of Perilstar, his feather and Shatterice, his mother. His two sisters playing. They were kits then, and he wondered gravely if they were killed just as his mother had been. A sigh worked it's way out of his lips and he dropped his head in mental exhaustion.
He just wanted it to all go away.
Now reaching the river, the deputy craned his sturdy neck to allow him to lap up a few needed drops of water. But the water tasted no good, it was lukewarm, and it just made the tom want to sweat more. He blinked his eyes feverishly, before sitting down near the slow-paced river, two of his front paws placed neatly and delicately into the utmost edge of the water. His beautiful pelt radiated charmingly as the setting sun shone elegantly along the silver furs that shone so brightly. His dappled tail-tip was now twitching slowly and rhythmically as the tom allowed sensible images and thoughts flow evenly through his mind. He really needed to focus on being a good deputy of the clan. His attitude adjustment could wait, right?
